Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
This full-time position with the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), funded by USDA is implemented by the University of Maryland Extension (UME). The EFNEP Outreach, Partnership and Training Coordinator will assist the State EFENP Director in planning, developing, and implementing EFNEP; and training for EFNEP. The position will include program management and supervision of EFNEP Educators, maintaining community outreach and collaborations, evaluation, and marketing to internal and external stakeholders. This is a 12-month, term appointment.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate program outreach; working with community collaborators to deliver EFNEP nutrition education interventions
- Develop educational materials and training programs for EFNEP professional and paraprofessional staff
- Contribute to curricula and related programmatic training
- Assist EFNEP staff with scheduling workshops and facilitates team building
- Conduct performance reviews
- Mentor EFNEP para-professional educators
- Serve as a team member and cooperate with the implementation team of EFNEP to achieve EFNEP program delivery goals
- Attend EFNEP staff development programs and participate in regularly scheduled meetings
- Identify and adapt existing program resources and educational materials to meet the needs of diverse audience
- Provide input to state EFNEP director for budget preparation and submit program expense reports
- Utilize effective marketing strategies for the promotion of programming efforts to include, print media, news media, social media, and multi-media efforts
- Organize and coordinate EFNEP programming (i.e. diet quality, food resource management, physical activity, food safety, food insecurity with an emphasis on infant nutrition and breastfeeding, adult/youth nutrition and wellness)
- Provide guidance to EFNEP volunteers and staff
- Maintain professional relationships with community/health agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts
- Assess program outcomes using EFNEP evaluation tools.
- Collect EFNEP evaluation data from program participants based on EFNEP framework
- Conduct program assessments and report formative, process, and outcome evaluation data
- Ensure program compliance with federal, state, county and university policies and procedures
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, education, public health, or closely related discipline and approximately 6 years of related experience or a Master’s degree and approximately 3 years of related experience.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and best practices for delivering community nutrition education to youth audiences age 5-18 years.
- Excellent oral, written and electronic communication skills, including communication with culturally diverse and low-income audiences.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills and coaching skills and the ability to work with established University of Maryland Human Resource policy and practice.

- Work effectively independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with community nutrition education programs that serve limited income audiences.
- Ability to complete the essential duties and responsibilities listed in the job description.
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish).
- Registered Dietitian credentials preferred.
