WATER DEPT. UTILITIES TECHNICIAN
Job Description: Typical duties include repair and maintenance of water mains and distribution system; water treatment plant operations, repairs, and maintenance; installation of meters; reading meters; operation of necessary equipment required to successfully achieve job results including but not limited to backhoe, trucks, skid loader, and jack hammer. Employees will berequired to occasionally work outside of their respective department and assist other Public Works departments.
Job Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent education; ability to document and understand gauge readings and flow measurements; ability to lift fifty (50) pounds and work outside in all weather conditions. Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain a Class B CDL license within one (1) year of employment. The successful applicant must obtain a Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Class 1 Water Treatment Operator License within three (3) years of employment. This position is required to work an alternating weekend schedule and must be available for after-hours emergencies.
Note: Preference may be given to applicants who already possess an MDE Class 1 or higher Water Treatment License and/or a Class B CDL.
