WSP is currently initiating a search for a Supervising Water Resources Engineerfor our Herndon, Virginia office.
We are looking for an enthusiastic technical expert with experience in development of design packages including plans, specifications and estimates; ecosystem restoration assessment and design; drainage and erosion control design; stormwater BMP design; MD/DE/VA permitting; water resources assessment; preparation of watershed management plans and studies; hydrology and hydraulic analyses; water/wastewater design and modeling; and geomorphic and water quality monitoring.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects, mentoring junior and mid-level staff, maintaining client relationships, assisting with business development, and working cooperatively and proactively with other disciplines within the company.
Candidates with certification in specialty areas or continuing education in advanced design or modeling methodologies should provide that information.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Develop and oversee analyses for water resources, watershed assessment, drainage studies, stormwater/water quality design, and ecosystem restoration projects including studies, permitting, conceptual designs, final design, calculations, cost estimates, construction observation, and other related duties
*Serve as project manager and lead multi-discipline teams on key water resources projects
*Serve as a specialist in providing technical guidance for complex and unique assignments
*Be a strategic technical leader in business development and client relationship building activities
*Interact with clients on existing projects and support business development initiatives
*Mentor entry and junior level staff

*Minimum 10 years progressively responsible experience in a water resource or environmental engineering practice area
*Bachelor s degree (Master's Degree preferred) in Civil, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field
*Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland and Virginia, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
*Strong client and project management skills
*Proven track record of leading complex technical assignments
*Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
Must enjoy working collaboratively on a wide range of projects.
*Experience and working knowledge of the following:
*Maryland/Delaware/Virginia stormwater and erosion control regulations
*Chesapeake Bay TMDL
*Hydrologic and Hydraulic software includes TR-55, TR-20, HEC-RAS, HY-8
*Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills
*Affiliations with professional societies and active industry and community involvement are highly desirable
